Daughter of William and Iva (Hill) Gorsuch, she was born on April 24, 1928 in Johnstown. Lucile graduated from Johnstown High School in 1946. In 1948 she married John Holbrook, and they began a life of farming together. Lucile participated in her church and her community, but was most passionate about being a farm wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Lucile was a long time member of Clover Valley Chapel church. She volunteered for years as youth leader and missions director. She also went on numerous short term mission trips and visited missions in Mexico and Papua New Guinea.
In the community, Lucile started her own small business selling Shaklee vitamins and products. Her hobbies included traveling and sight-seeing, sewing and crocheting, and reading. However, she always had time for people, especially for her children, her grandchildren, and young people in her church. For her devotion to her husband, family, and friends, Lucile is much loved.
Lucile is survived by sons Joseph Holbrook (Linda Reinhardt), Jack (Betsy) Holbrook, and daughter Leatha (Butch) Jenkins along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband John Holbrook, sisters Hilda Gorsuch, Geneva (Gorsuch) Warner, and brother, Robert Gorsuch.
Family will receive friends on Friday, October 6 from 5 to 7pm at the Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St. Johnstown, OH 43031. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 10 am at Clover Valley Chapel, 5669 Clover Valley Road, Johnstown, OH, with Pastor Brian Smith officiating.
Interment will be held at Green Hill Cemetery.
