I lost my 18 year old nephew, James Verlin Shaw, on December 3, 2014.  I know the pain our family is feeling and I wanted to give our condolences.  I know that words don't help with the pain.  Your family is in my prayers.

Tracy and Harvey, I am so sorry for your loss and no words can truly express how much your son was loved. I hear a cardoor close and look for him to come through my door and give me a hug and call me grandma, even though I wasn't his true grandmother. I have so much respect for Matt and know that he made you proud. He is missed so much and I will continue to see him walk through that door. My prayers go out to you and your entire family and just know we all loved Matt. May he watch over all of you.

Matt was an extraordinary young man. He was a bright light in this world who left way too early. Even though I was Matt's First Grade teacher he always spoke to me, gave me that big smile, and a hug. Most students of his age won't even acknowledge their former teachers let alone give them the warm greeting that I always received from Matt. It's still difficult for me to believe what happened. Your family is being kept in prayer by us, as well as, our church family.  May God surround you with His love and give you peace.

Harvey and Tracy, words can not say how deeply sorry I am for you both.  I can not fathom all you both have gone through these past couple years.  My boys, Ethan and Aaron, played football with Matt when they were at Northridge and have nothing but kind words to say about him.  I pray that God holds you both as you move forward.  I pray that He gives you strength and peace in the coming days and months.

Matt was honestly one of the best and most caring people we have ever met. He was always there when we needed a friend, and he wanted to be the godfather of our baby. He said "you better call me when you're having that baby I wanna be there." It's so hard to find such a good person in this world, we are just happy we had the honor of knowing him... He was like a brother to us and will be missed and remembered. His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.
