Michael Shull

June 10, 1953February 28, 2020

Michael C Shull, born June 10, 1953 in Columbus, OH to the late Jack and Ruth Shull, passed away Friday evening February 28, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones. Mike was a man who devoted his life to his family, friends, and community and never asked for help for himself or complained. He was, in his words, “a simple man with simple wants and needs”. Following in his father’s footsteps, he took over ownership of Shull’s Hardware in Johnstown where he dedicated over 50 years of wisdom to our community. He joined the Johnstown Volunteer Fire Department in 1972 and remained active with the Johnstown Fire Department Association clear to the end. Mike was a giving man who did many kind acts that most would never know about, but many were blessed to receive. He was a constant supporter of youth sports and our local 4-H kids. He loved Johnstown and looked forward to helping with the Johnstown Fireman’s Festival year after year and was closely involved with The Scoreboard Committee, raising funds for the new scoreboard at the JHS Frank H. Chambers Stadium. Most of all, Mike loved his family and friends more than he would ever say with a “Back at ya” being his go to saying after being told “I love you”. Mike will forever be missed by his wife of 44 years, Judy (Wright) Shull, daughters, Lindsey (Mike) BeVier, Laney (Clinton Lainge) Shull, “Rachel (Joe) Wilson”, granddaughters Emilee (Chase) Watson, Abbi (Connor Reckley) BeVier, and Sierra BeVier, siblings Doug (Debi) Shull and Lori Green; mother and father in-law Lee and JoAnn Wright, and many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, both life long and the newer ones that were more like family to him. His heart was his greatest asset. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 4th at 3:00 p.m. at the Johnstown Church of the Ascension. 555 S. Main St., Johnstown, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to be made in his name, Mike (920) Shull, to any of the following: Johnstown Fire Department Association, Monroe Township Fire Department , and Johnstown-Monroe Scoreboard Committee. “Fly high 920, until we meet again”

Judy, Lindsey and Laney:
We will always, always remember Mike. As I said when God made Mike the mold was broken. God knew we only needed one Mike Shull to reach out and touch people "his way". You looked forward to a chit-chat with Mike. Always smiling, added some humor to the daily grind, etc. Just a special person to this big ole world.
Working next door to Mike for seven years is seven years of my work life I will never forget. They are seven great years you look back upon and smile for the fun that was added to the work day.
As years moved on and when I was going back through Johnstown, I would stop and visit with Mike. I always enjoyed these visits to share the laughter and good times of reminiscing.
There are some people you meet in your life and you always want to stay in contact with. Mike was one of these people.
Blessings to you Judy, Lindsey and Laney. You had the greatest husband and father. Thanks for sharing Mike with all of us.
Love and Prayers,

Linda Woolard

Judy Lindsey Laney
We send our deepest sympathy in your loss of husband & father. Mike was someone who was helpful & easy to talk to in the hardware store. Just reading all the things he was involved in tells
how much of himself he shared with family & friends. No words
can ease your grief but hopefully they offer comfort at this most
sorrowful time. Knowing Mikes in Gods Loving Care now receiving his reward is your heavenly gift. God bless you girls.

My heart goes out to the entire
Wright Shull family today. I had a martial arts/fitness business across the street from the hardware store for 21 years and during that time, I had the privilege to interact with Mike and Family. It was an honor to know Mike and it’s always a pleasure to be surrounded by his immediate family, nieces nephews, the whole clan! They are a true example of what family should be! Mike was a staple in our community and will be greatly missed. Johnstown has lost an amazing friend but his memories will live on forever. God Bless you all! 🙏❤️ RIP Mike

Dear Laney & Clinton...

We were so saddened to hear of the death of Laney's dad. Paul frequented the hardware store often, chatting with Mike. We feel so blessed to know Laney & Clinton, who were two of the first people we met when we moved to Johnstown.

Please know our love, thoughts and prayers are with you, and all of your family. May God comfort you, and hold you close, during this time of loss.

Judy and family, we moved here in 1981 and one of the first people John met was Mike. We were building our home and Mike was with John all along the way. He was a great man, a wonderful example to so many people. He loved his family and was not ashamed to say that. Rest In Peace Mike. I know Pam was one of the first people to greet him. That was the last time I was able to visit with him ,at Pam BeViers calling hours.. Our hearts are with all of you. John and Penny Replogle
