Richard Dean Ashbrook, 78, of Johnstown, Ohio passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 5, 2021. He was born September 15, 1942 in Johnstown, Ohio to the late Dean and Velma (Hoover) Ashbrook. Richard worked hard as the owner and operator of Ashbrook Excavating. He was an active member of the Croton Church of Christ. Richard loved to go bowling, and was a longtime member of his bowling league. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Saundra Ashbrook; sons Randy (Chris) Ashbrook, Brad (Tami) Ashbrook, and Scott Ashbrook; grandchildren Taylor (Kyle) Adkins, Katelin Ashbrook (Zach), Madison (Zane) Maize, and Maci Ashbrook; great-granddaughter Everly Adkins; sister Barbara Walker; sister-in-law Judy Biris; special friend Bob Hatten; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. Richard is preceded in passing by his brother Perry Ashbrook. Family and friends may call from 2-6 pm Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, Ohio 43031. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, April 12, 2021 at the funeral home, services will be officiated by Pastor Dan Hamilton. Immediately following there will be a committal service held at Green Hill Cemetery.
