Ronald Edward Birks, 78, of Johnstown, Ohio passed away peacefully Friday, December 22, 2023. He was born September 25, 1945, in Granite City, Illinois to the late Russell and Pauline Birks. Ron was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He greatly enjoyed vacationing with family and was an avid cyclist, transitioning from a bicycle to a recumbent trike. Ron and Peg enjoyed the years of Western Square Dancing with various clubs. He is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from Abbott Laboratories, Ross Products Division.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Peggy (Rousselle); brother, Jim (Dena) Birks; sister, Paulette Birks; daughter, Michelle (Jeff) Leonhardt; son, Mark (Deana) Birks; grandsons, Christopher Leonhardt, Jonathan Leonhardt, Nathan Birks, Barrett Birks; brother-in-law, David (Kristina) Rousselle and many nieces, nephews, and family members.
In addition to his parents, Ron is also preceded in death by mother-in-law and father-in-law, Virginia and George Rousselle.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at a future date. Details will be provided to family and friends.
