

Ron was born December 24, 1931 in Columbus Ohio to the late Ralph G. and Helen Hulett Smith; he was born again at the age of 33, when he accepted our Lord and Savior into his life. He was a 1950 graduate from Alexandria High School. Ron worked many years as a farmer, horse shoer and carpenter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan H. Smith, Children; Erin (Joseph) Wilson of Pataskala and Joel (Ashley) Smith of Johnstown, Grandchildren; Grace Wilson, Brantley Smith and Bronson Smith, Sister; Jeanne King, Nieces and Nephews; Linda (Dewey) Gibson and Dean (Lisa) Greenwood and cousin Roger (Barbara) Hulett and many close friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Laurence (Larry) Smith and nephew, Mark Greenwood.
Ron was a devoted Christian who loved to study and share God’s word with others. He spent his retirement maintaining his Johnstown, Ohio Farm where he passed the time planting trees, cutting and hauling in firewood, while enjoying and maintaining his antique tractors. He was a blessing to all those around him, especially the many neighbors whom he helped maintain and care for their properties. In his earlier years he played music with the Gleaners Olde Time String Band. He was a great influence to the younger generation whom he often encouraged and helped cultivate their love of music. He was an avid horseman enjoying 5 years riding with the Rocky Fork Headley Hunt Club and many years of trail rides. He was an active member of Christian Bible Fellowship, which he helped found in 1989.
Friends and Family may call from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Lloyd Markley, will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends and Family are encouraged to relive memories and tell stories of Ron.
