Russell Johnson

Russell was a strong, hard-working man who cherished his family. He spent most days with a big smile on his face and a song in his heart which he hummed or sang as he went about his day. He led an interesting life and loved to talk about his childhood, family and career accomplishments. He had many wonderful stories to tell. He enjoyed camping, fishing, foraging for mushrooms, watching Cincinnati Reds' baseball and OSU Buckeye football. He was a big fan of both teams.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Flora Johnson; sisters, Clara Mae Johnson and Garnett Hinkle; first wife, Dorothy Johnson; son, Mark Johnson; stepson, Dana Kirby, stepson-in-law, Steve Larkin; and nephew, James "Wally" Hinkle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Kirby; stepdaughters, Joyce (Lanny) Bailey, Deborah Larkin, and Louanne Kirby; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Johnson; grandchildren, Matthew (Heather) Bailey, Andrew (Laura) Bailey, Joy (Sean) Bailey Aube, Brandon (Michelle) Ashbrook, Jenny (Brandon) Callicoat, Gavin Johnson and Alissa Johnson; great-grandchildren, Noah, Breanna (Jody) Graham, Archie, Brandon, Jr., Xander and Morgan; brother, Arie Johnson of Inez, Kentucky; nephews, Bradley Hinkle and Ronald Hinkle; many beloved cousins and their families, as well as numerous friends and neighbors.

Russell will be greatly missed...until we meet again.

A visitation for Russell will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 225 North Main Street, Johnstown, OH 43031. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Michael Ray Rector. A committal service will occur Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Green Hill Cemetery, 7621 Johnstown-Alexandria Rd, Johnstown, OH 43031.
