Ruth Clayton Brown, 96, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Laurels in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She was a previous resident of Johnstown, Ohio, where she was born August 27, 1918. She was a longtime employee of The Ohio State University in the College of Education, retiring in 1981, and was an avid Buckeye football fan. She did not like cold weather and for many years spent winters in Ruskin, Florida, where she was very active in many activities. Ruth is survived by her son, Jerry (Janice) Clayton of Fredericktown; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Clayton; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rudolph Clayton; second husband, George Brown; infant son, Richard; another son, Charles; her parents and all of her sisters and brothers. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015 at CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031, with Pastor Calvin Alexander officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Hartford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knox County Hospice, 17700 Coshocton Rd., Mount Vernon, OH 43050, in Ruth’s memory.
