Steve L. Rito, born in Niles, Ohio, February 14, 1922, left this world December 28, 2020. Preceded in death by his parents Steve and Irene and brothers William and Robert. Steve is survived by his wife of over sixty-four years, Sarah; his four sons Steve, Tom, Stacy, and Robyn; his daughter Michelle; grandchildren Crystal, Ryan, Wesley, Tammy, Shane, Shawn; and great-grandchildren Zach, Alaina, Madison, Ella, Elliot, and Paisley. Steve was a decorated WWII veteran, inducted into the US Army in December 1942 and trained as a team member of an M-10 anti-tank unit which was assigned to Co A, 893rd Tank Destroyer Battalion and deployed at Omaha beach where the battalion successfully fought the German forces from France thru Belgium into Germany. After Steve’s military service he resided in Columbus where he returned to the tool and die trade as a skilled machinist until his retirement where Sarah and he moved to Johnstown. Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, wine making, bowling, stamp collecting, sports and was an avid OSU buckeyes fan but most of all was a devoted family man and will be sorely missed by his family.
