Wilson, Toby Ann, born February 11, 1936, residing in Croton, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Thursday, May 5, 2016. Toby is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Mervin, children, Karen Whitcraft, Mike (Diane) Wilson, John (Bo) Auflick, David (Jan) Wilson, Laura (Carl) Cunningham and Ed (Becky) Wilson. Toby is also survived by her nephew, Tommy (Melanee) Hall, 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Toby has joined her parents Norman and Mary, her brother Tom Hall, his wife Carolyn and many other family members and close friends.
Toby graduated Valedictorian of Nelsonville High School in 1954. She left her successful career as a legal secretary to care for her family, spending much time baking cookies and bread, sewing up costumes for school plays, teaching her grandchildren to swim and serving as a 4-H advisor to a wonderful group of young girls in the Smart Alex 4-H Club.
Toby could most often be found at her kitchen table, the hub of the house. She would sit at the head of the table, sipping her coffee while working on a crossword puzzle, crocheting an afghan or playing Yahtzee with those who came to visit. She loved to cheer on her Cleveland Browns and OSU football team and seldom missed the opportunity to travel to the Outer Banks of North Carolina or sit by a fire on the banks of the Muskingum River.
A visitation will be held at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home in Johnstown, OH from 5pm-8pm on Monday, May 9, 2016. A service will be held for family and friends who personally knew and loved Toby on Tuesday, May 10th at 10am followed by the burial at Hartford Cemetery in Croton. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made in her name to the Hartford Volunteer Fire Department, 180 Smith Street, Hartford, OH 43013. www.ckfraley.com
