Algie Dyer Gilmore Jr., (A.D.) was born December 10, 1936 in Maury Co.TN. and died August 13, 2018 in Griffin Ga.. A.D. was an avid car mechanic and a member of the Local Ironworkers #387 for over 50 years. As an Ironworker he helped build many iconic sky scrapers in downtown Atlanta Ga.. He loved to travel back home to Tennessee where he kept a residence to visit his family and friends who he loved dearly. He enjoyed going to auctions, estate sales and bartering with anything and anyone. He loved to wheel and deal and was always looking for a good money maker.
A.D. is proceeded in death by his parents Berta and Algie Gilmore Sr. of Columbia TN., Son Ricky Dower Gilmore of Griffin Ga., Siblings, Lorene Kelley, Mattie Lou Scott, Melvenia Allen and one brother Harold Dean Gilmore. Three special nephews who proceeded him in death recently were brothers Wade and Michael Kelley both of Columbia TN, and Joseph Scott of Ga.
A.D. is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Birdie Marie Black of Columbia, TN., and sister Betty Jean Odom-Crane of Crawfordville, Ga.. Five loving children; David (Terry) Gilmore of McDonough Ga., Myrna (Russ) McNally of Griffin, Ga., Carolyn (Jon) Tracy of Griffin Ga., Wendy (Todd) Pritchard of Williamson, Ga. and Tammy (Rick) Flowers of Jackson, Ga., A very special relationship with nieces Tena and her husband Billy Woods of Mt. Pleasant, TN. and Sue Ann Stephens of Stockbridge, Ga..
Eleven grandchildren; Christopher, Josh and Jessie Agnew, David Gilmore Jr., Julie Gilmore Devor, Bradley and Rose Tracy, Blake and Branden Serrano, Jared Flowers, Kelsey Flowers Fletcher and Fifteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday August from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral Services Friday, August 17, 2018 11:00am at Tara Garden Chapel, Jonesboro, Georgia.
