Annette lived a life defined by hard work, resilience, and love for her family.
In 1957, she married James Lomax Mitchell and moved to Mobile, Alabama, where they began their family. Together for 34 years until his passing, Annette and James raised their children while frequently moving between Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. She worked in various roles throughout her life, including at a textile factory, in HVAC, property management, and as a pool hall proprietor, truly a jill of all trades.
In 1993, following James’s passing, she married Hugh Shannon Jones in McKenzie, Alabama. They shared 11 years of marriage before his passing. In 2004, Annette moved to Henry County, Georgia, where she resided until her passing.
Annette loved playing cards, fishing, and trips to the beach. She enjoyed watching Bob Ross and cherished her church deeply.
She was preceded in death by her husbands James Lomax Mitchell and Hugh Shannon Jones, as well as her sisters Bonnie Driver, Alice Jane Clark, and Charlene Baggett.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Ann and Mike Wilson, Sandy Mitchell, Chuck Mitchell, and Steve and Keliree Mitchell; her grandchildren and their spouses: Chad and Gina Wilson, Danny and Hannah Wilson, Stephen and T’Lah Mitchell, Nathan Mitchell, Kayla and Sam Duree, Wesley and Vivian Jamar, Donovan Mitchell, and Rusty Jamar; and her great-grandchildren: Lilly, Ollie, Evelyn, William, Adaleigh, Hayden, Ragan, Landon, Laussen, Evie, Grover, and Mavin.
A Homegoing Service for Annette will be held on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025. Viewing will take place at Tara Gardens Chapel from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, immediately followed by a graveside service at Sherwood Memorial Park.
Granny loved flowers, but she didn’t like to see them wither and fade. What would have meant the most to her is for donations to be made in her honor to her cherished church:
