Barbara earned her master’s degree and achieved many career milestones through her work with the Georgia State University System and in community counseling. She was a woman of unwavering faith who devoted her life to Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life and guided the way she loved and cared for those around her.
Barbara deeply loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them. She also enjoyed traveling, the arts, reading, and, of course, all things chocolate.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary A. Skidmore (Doug Skidmore); stepson, John W. McKee Jr.; grandchildren, Allison M. Shafor (Aaron Shafor), Taylor A. Skidmore, Christopher D. Skidmore, Charles Davis (Krystle Davis), and Isibealla H. McKee; great-grandchildren, Oaklynn H. Shafor, Oliver C. Shafor, Tommy Davis, and Michael Davis; siblings, Carolyn E. Caswell (Ted Caswell) and Raymond M. Robinson Jr. (Jayne H. Robinson); nieces and nephews, Lauren Brooks (Joel Brooks), Toby Caswell, Jennifer Chapman (Brian Chapman), Amanda Jarrell (Andrew Jerrell), Darby Robinson; as well as many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.
Barbara will be remembered for her strong faith, her devotion to her family, her accomplishments, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life. Her love and influence will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Tara Garden Chapel, 681 North Ave, Jonesboro, GA 30236, on September 28, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Interment will take place at Sherwood Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 6841 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, GA 30236 on September 28, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
