Chong Nam LAMBERT
October 15, 1946 – November 4, 2018
Mrs. Boksu Kim (Chong Nam Lambert), age 72, of McDonough, GA, passed away on Sunday, November 4th, 2018
Boksu is the 4th child of 6 siblings. In Seoul Korea her closely knit family experienced poverty and lack of education.
The resilient 20 year old met Johnnie Johnson while he was stationed in Seoul that led to the fruition of their 3 children. In 1970 her first born daughter, Sophia Chong, was conceived and born in Seoul. However, the young couple decided to venture to America where Odetta Kim and Kareem Abdul were born in St. Louis, MO.
Boksu eventually divorced and around 1980 she moved to Los Angeles, CA seeking a better life. She struggled as a single mother that possessed an undying strength to survive in U.S. She owned a small Chinese restaurant located in the Los Angeles. Then later worked as a wig stylist at Lillie’s Wig on Crenshaw Boulevard.
Her constant developments led her to a trade school in pursuit of a corporate career, in hopes of improving her English, typing, and writing. Nonetheless, the business world didn’t suit her adventurous nature that transitioned her to cosmetology school and becoming a Massage Therapist.
Soon she met and married Garry Lambert in 1989. The couple purchased a home on Westminster Avenue in West Los Angeles to raise their blended family. She creatively carved a road that demonstrated her willingness to succeed.
Fortunately, God led her to 25 years of addiction recovery with the support and assistance of family and friends.
Boksu’s beautiful smile and energetic personality made everyone she came in contact with feel welcomed and important. She loved to travel and partake new experiences. She truly enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends especially for birthdays and holidays. Her unconditional love and acceptance of others will live on through the legacy she built.
Boksu is surved by spouse, Garry Lambert; son, Kareem A. Johnson; daughters: Sophia Chong Johnson and Odetta Kim Clark; grandchildren: Deon Oessiah Clark, Kacey Kim Clark, Kylee Brie Johnson, and Khloé Dean Johnson; father, IL Yong Kim; mother, Ok Soon Chang; 6 siblings, brother Chung Bae Kim (who is now deceased); Joug Bae Kim; sisters Chong Nam Kim, Bok Hee, and Bok Yun.
