

On this day, we celebrate the legacy of Evangelist Evelyn C. Bell. Evangelist Bell was born on April 3, 1940, in Doerun, Ga to the late Elector and Estella Hill. She grew up in Moultrie and Atlanta, Ga. She was the ninth child of thirteen siblings. Evelyn attended public and nursing school in Georgia where she retired from Georgia Regional Hospital.
Evelyn accepted Christ at an early age and later in her Christian walk, she joined Norman Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Murphy. While at Norman Grove Baptist Church, Evangelist Bell was a well-rounded member of the church. She served as President of the FNG combined choir, President of the Nurses Guild, and member of the Mother’s Board. She also served in several other positions in the church. To further her Christian journey, she became an Ordained Minister in the early 2000’s, under the leadership of Bishop E.L. Ellison Sr. Pastor Emeritus and Rev. James L. Etchinson, Pastor. Currently, Evangelist Bell is under the leadership of Bishop Eugene Smith at New Vision of Faith Ministries.
As a young lady, Evelyn met her soulmate Willie L. Bell. They were united in marriage on February 1, 1974. To this union, there are five children, three by previous marriage, one by marriage and one by birth. Rosemary Christie (Elder Christie), Tony Bell Sr (Doris), Kenneth Bell Sr (Caroline), and Christopher Bell Sr (Melissa).
On February 27, 2023, after a long illness, God called her home.
She enjoyed praising God, traveling, completing crossword puzzles, and eating. Her favorite meal was fish and grits. She also enjoyed being devoted to her husband of 44 years, spending time with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Elector and Estelle Hill, Four brothers, three sisters and one daughter, Christina Bell aka ‘baby sis’.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her daughter- Rosemary Christie (Elder Preston), Tony Bell Sr (Doris), Kenneth Bell Sr (Caroline), and Christopher Bell Sr (Melissa). Three sisters – Mira, Lucy, and Lay. One brother- Daniel.
