

Helen Scott Smith, 88, formerly of W Fayetteville Rd, Riverdale, Ga. Born December 2, 1926, Davisboro, Ga, grew up in Statesboro, Ga went to heaven to be with her mother, father, brothers and sister February 11,2015.
After graduating from Statesboro High School in 1943, she lived and worked in Atlanta in the mid 40’s, then moved to College Park after her marriage to Doris Benjamin Smith, May 4, 1946. She retired from Philips Medical, Atlanta (1974- 1992) as an accountant, bookkeeper, executive assistant and computer operator. Helen was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Ga (formerly in College Park) for over fifty years serving as a Sunday School teacher and Church Clerk.
She was an excellent seamstress sewing clothes for herself, family, friends and dolls, and enjoyed bowling, word games, puzzles, doll collecting, baking and fried chicken. “Gran’s chocolate cake” will always be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Above all, she loved church and family.
She is survived by her son, Duran and wife Carole Hancock Smith, Hazleton, Pa; grandson, Ben and wife Carissa Myers Smith, Carrollton, Ga, children, Duran, Lanae and husband Matt Dickstein, and Lauren; grandson, Brett and wife Ranee Gerlach Smith, Wilkes Barre, Pa, children, Kendra, Jordan, Brandon, and Allie; and granddaughter, Dawn Smith Bye and husband Jeremy, Milton, Ga, children Haidyn and Garrett.
Services will be held at Tara Garden Chapel, Jonesboro, Ga. Visitation will be February 17, 2015 from 11am until 1pm with funeral services thereafter at 1pm. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Jonesboro, Ga.
