

John Joseph Todd, of Hampton, passed away just 4 days after his 83rd birthday on Friday, November 19, 2010. Mr. Todd was a Veteran of the United States Navy and operated the Gulf Oil Station for over 30 years where Underground Atlanta now stands. Although, heart broken, John stated he knew the Underground project would be the best thing that ever happened to the city. His once thriving business is now a parking garage. Mr. Todd was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Todd and his sister, Jean Todd. He is survived by his devoted wife, Merline Lee Todd; son, Edward Todd, both of Hampton; sisters, Ruth Wells of Marietta, Virginia Maddox of New Orleans and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 11:00 am at Saint Phillip Benzi Catholic Church in Jonesboro with Military Rites. Cremation will follow. Family will receive friends Monday, November 22, 2010 from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Todd was a wonderful man who loved his family and the country he served. He will be truly missed.
