Michael Wade Fields, 54, of Jonesboro, GA, lost his battle with lung cancer on March 6, 2011. He was born December 15, 1956 in Memphis, TN to his parents Gordon Wright and Patricia Case Fields. Growing up he enjoyed playing baseball, driving dune buggies, and riding motorcycles. Michael was part of the Santana High School graduation class of 1975 in Santee, CA.
A master service engineer, Michael studied at various technical schools perfecting his craft. He was considered one of the best in his field of work earning several awards for dedication and craftsmanship. He most recently worked at GE Walker.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Michael loved to explore Bass Pro Shops or build computers on the weekends with his son. He recently started to flying specialized model planes with his son-in-law and loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. Michael will be remembered as a generous and loving quick witted man who could never be found without his beloved dogs, Mitzi, Chico, Semi, & Lilly.
Michael is survived by his wife Julie Wright Fields of Jonesboro, mother Patricia Fields of Falmouth, KY, two children: James Michael Fields of Flovilla, GA and Angie Fields Hague of North Port, FL, sister Janet Bradley of Falmouth, KY, daughter-in-law Julie Stumbo-Fields, son-in-law Mike Hague, mother-in-law Barbara Wright of Riverdale, GA, two grandchildren: Cody and Lucas, brother-in-law Jeff Wright of Lawrenceville, GA, two sisters-in-law: Terrie Fortner of Riverdale, GA, and Donna Wright of Lawrenceville, GA, as well as five nieces and four nephews.
His family would like to give a special thank you to all his wonderful caregivers and the love they had for him including the wonderful staff at Emory University Hospital Midtown and Home & Hospice Advantage.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Mike. Envelopes will be available at Tara Garden Chapel in Jonesboro, GA.
