Shakir Stanley Brewer, affectionately known as “Shak,” was born on February 1, 1993, in Los Angeles, California, to the late Lorraine Murrell and the late Stanley Brewer. He later relocated to Lithonia, Georgia in the 1990s, where he became a proud product of the DeKalb County School System and graduated from Miller Grove High School in 2010. Shak went on to earn his first degree in Computer Science, which paved the way for his successful career as a Senior Regional IT Infrastructure Engineer and Cybersecurity Administrator.
From a young age, Shak displayed an insatiable curiosity. He loved taking things apart and putting them back together, often finding creative solutions to everyday problems. Various business endeavors and negotiating came naturally to him. A true problem-solver at heart, he lived life on the edge, never afraid to take a gamble, dreaming big, going big, and always executing things on his own terms.
Shak was witty, playful, helpful, and full of life. His leadership, vision, and drive left a profound impact on his family, friends, and community. The confidence and faith he had in himself, often catapulted him into opportunities of a lifetime. He was driven by a plan he had for the future and a determination to see it through.
Above all, he was a devoted father, son, brother and friend. His greatest joy came from being with his daughter, Kennedi, with whom he spent much of his time, showing her work, travel, outdoor activities and more. He often remarked on how effortless parenting felt, embracing fatherhood with the same confidence, humor, and dedication that he brought to every other aspect of his life.
He found joy in cars, motorcycles, technology, turning up with friends, and the pursuit of success. More than anything, Shak was a resource to those around him, offering his knowledge, his time, and his laughter.
On August 1, 2025, Shak’s earthly journey transcended as he returned to the ancestral realm. His legacy lives on through his resilience, hardworking nature, sense of humor, his helpful spirit, and his unforgettable smile.
Shak is survived by his one daughter, Kennedi Brewer (Kenni-bear); his three siblings, Eman Dosunmu (Mani), Stanely Brewer (Keem) and J’Chanel Kinchen (Jay); the mother of his child, Shallise Johnson; nieces & nephews, Nylah Brewer, Cruz Doriney, Ayla Doriney, Morris Bradley and Dylan Bradley; uncle, Thomas Murrell (Uncle Boo); auntie, Valjean Ferguson (Auntie Val); extended family, the Archie family, Akeem Ivey, Joseph Dale, Raven Royal and a host of family and friends alike.
A memorial service for Shakir will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Tara Garden Chapel, 681 North Ave, Jonesboro, GA 30236.
