

Sheila Ann Harrell, was a remarkable woman and a beloved member of our family. Sheila was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1948 and raised in Barberton, Ohio where she graduated high school in 1966. She then pursued higher education with great dedication, earning her degree from Central State University in 1970 and later a Master's in Math from Ohio State University in 1974.
Sheila devoted 34 years of her life to teaching, impacting countless children and young adults. Notably, she was the first Black teacher to teach both math and English in the Franklin County School System in Columbus, Ohio. Although she did not have children of her own, her commitment to education and her students was truly her legacy.
Sheila then moved to Dallas, Texas in 1985 and lived there for 40 years. While there she became member of the National Educator Association and National Math Teachers Association.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hattie Mae, her brothers Donald, Abraham, and William Jr., and her sisters Brenda and Joyce. She is survived by her sisters Beverly of Stow, Ohio, Mildred (Millie), and Patricia of Atlanta, Georgia.
Sheila was surrounded y friends and family. We would like to give a Special mention to her life friends, Dana Turner of Phoenix, cousin Annie Nell McCray of Forsyth, Ga, Josette Turner, James and Francis Smith and Ms. Pearline King of Dallas, Texas.
We will always remember Sheila for her kindness and generosity. Her spirit and dedication continue to inspire us all.
