Shirley Peoples Turner was born in Montgomery, Alabama on November 18, 1928 as the first child of Gladys Mae Thornton and Joseph Lynn Peoples. In a year the family moved to Thomaston, Ga and she was joined by a sister Gloria Ann and two brothers Harold Eugene and Sydney Leon. They had a wonderful life in a community of hard working people.
Shirley was a member of Hightower Memorial Methodist Church and was baptized at age twelve. She and her sister sang in the choir and were members of all of the youth groups.
She graduated Lee High School in Thomaston, Ga in 1945 and as she had always dreamed of becoming a nurse, decided to enter Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing and did so that year 1945. She was very interested in learning and she loved living in Atlanta, Ga.
After she finished her three years and became a Registered Nurse in 1950, she married her longtime sweetheart from her hometown, Curtis Lee Turner and they made their home in Forest Park, Ga. They were blessed with two children, Curtis Lee Turner, Jr. in 1953 and Linda Sue in 1956.
After 35 years in Forest Park, they moved to Jonesboro, Ga and retired. He retired in 1990 from Central Truck Lines and she in 1993 from Piedmont Hospital. Their retirement gave them time to travel and meet many people with the same hobby of collecting and displaying pocket knives.

Milligan (Michael), granddaughter Misty Johnson, Grandson Roger Turner (Stephanie), Granddaughter Cristie Eaton (Siera), Great grand children Hayden, Anna, Gabe and Hampton and great-great grandson Beau.
