

Wayne Mitchell Day was born at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA on June 9, 1950. He passed away on March 2, 2024. He was the fourth child born to Gordon Stanley Day and Gladys Miriam (Mitchell) Day.
Wayne was a sports jock. He played football, basketball and baseball. In fact, he was such a great pitcher that he even struck out John Milner of the New York Yankees whenever he came to Wayne's school. Wayne coached little league baseball and football for many years. He worked for Eastern Airlines for 21 years, owned an Amoco service station and later owned a pawn shop. He was a true wheeler dealer.
He married Cynthia (Cindy) in 1977. They just celebrated 47 years together.
Wayne is survived by his wife; Cindy Day, his sons; Rob Efferson and his wife; Shawnna, Greg Efferson and Jered Day and his wife Jenny, his grandsons; Christian Efferson, Jacob Efferson, Alden Efferson, Ethan Day and Isaac Day, three great grandchildren; Emma Lee, Evelyn and James, his brothers and sisters; Rick Day and his wife Carol, Don Day and his wife Peggy and Peggy Morgan and her husband Marvin, his nieces and nephews; Kim, Cindy, Christi, Josh and their families.
He enjoyed family and church. He loved God and was loved by many. He will be truly missed.
A visitation will take place at Forest Lawn Funeral Home located at 5755 Mallory Rd in College Park GA 30349 on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 1 PM to 2 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2 PM. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
