William Wesley White III, age 84, went to be with the Lord in his home on Thursday, April 22nd surrounded by all of his loved ones. He was born in Jackson, Tennessee on July 18, 1936. He was preceded In death by his father and mother; William and Ruth White, as well as his sister; Ruth Stroh. Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy White. He was a wonderful father to his seven children, Jimmy Conklin, Wesley White, Lisa Phillips, Jennifer Edwards, Irma Baldwin, Shirley Arvey and Mary Bailey. One of his favorite titles was “Paw Paw” as he had sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren whom he loved dearly. As well, he is survived by his older sister, Nancy Barr. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Bill was such a hard-working and humble man. He retired from Eastern and Northwest Airlines after many years of dedication to the job.
To know him was to love him. He always had a way with people, and truly made an impact on so many throughout his life. He loved and served those around him with all of his being, and lived a life that imitated Jesus. A truly amazing man that put others above himself, cared deeply and always had a smile on his face.
A simple man, really. One who loved Chick-fil-A Ice cream, cruising through flea markets, attending gun shows and making memories in the mountains. Word searches and sudokus were some of his favorite activities, and of course we can’t forget about his love for NCIS. He couldn’t get enough of the good ole’ comedies, listening to Leann Rimes, and playing the harmonica. Looking back on his life, he would say how lucky he was not for the things he had but because of those around him. He adored his family with all of his heart. Although he is no longer here with us physically, the impact and love he provided through the years will remain with us forever.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. However, it brings us all peace knowing he is free of his pain and walking with Jesus now.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 27th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 28th at 1 pm. Both will take place at Tara Garden Chapel located at 681 North Ave in Jonesboro, GA. Masks are required to attend. Burial will take place at Sherwood Memorial Gardens following the service. .
