Anthony Charles Malizia

Anthony Charles Malizia, age 86, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2017. He was born on March 11, 1931, in Nutley, New Jersey to Charles and Anna Malizia. After graduating from Nutley High School in 1949, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and bravely served his country during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, Anthony was awarded the Purple Heart for distinguished and meritorious military service. He later met and married the love of his life, Joan Marlene Langstaff. On May 27, 2017, they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

While working as an operating engineer in Newark, New Jersey, Anthony attended Rutgers University at night and completed his bachelor’s degree. He later transitioned into education, attended graduate school at Nova University, and spent the next fifteen years teaching in the Broward County School system in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Anthony’s interests were vast and wide. He enjoyed reading, enhancing his vocabulary, traveling, playing tennis and golf, bicycling, and being outdoors. He also cherished spending time with his family, both near and far. Throughout his life, Anthony instilled in his family a love of learning and a strong work ethic.

He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Joan. He is survived by his son, Anthony Malizia Jr and his wife Dedra, of Jupiter, Florida, his daughter Molly Malizia Fox and her husband Alan, of Little Silver, New Jersey and his five grandchildren, Nicole Malizia, Richard Cauterucci, Anthony Cauterucci, Joseph Cauterucci, and Michael Cauterucci.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Allegro Assisted Living in Jupiter for their unwavering kindness and compassion. We would also like to thank the staff at TrustBridge Hospice of Palm Beach County for the sensitive and considerate manner in which they treated our father. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization.
