Christina Pavela (nee Myer), 56, of Jupiter, FL passed away peacefully at her home with her husband John at her side after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Christina and John have been together for twenty years and married for fifteen years this month.
Christina was born in Philadelphia, PA but spent most of her childhood and young adult life growing up in Vernon, CT. In October of 2003 Christina moved to West Palm Beach, FL where she later met John while working together at Wachovia in Palm Beach. The entire office played “match-maker” urging them to get together as everyone knew that they were a “match made in heaven”. The next 20 years proved them right as they made the most of every single day with each other by their side.
Christina is survived by her husband John Pavela, her parents Andrew & Joanne Myer (Vernon, CT), her sister Alicia (Rich) Tremaine, her brother Steven Wrona and her in-laws who loved her dearly, Toni “Sis” Pavela, Lisa & Rich Scumaci, Laurie & Joe Rodriguez, Billy & Maryann Pavela. She was the fun and loving “Auntie Christina” to Brandon & Brady Wrona, Ricky, Diane, Richie, Christopher & Nico Scumaci, Nicholas Scumaci, Brittney & Oliver Scumaci and Isabela & Joey Rodriguez.
Christina was an incredible person filled with kindness, laughter, patience (especially with John) and a love for everyone and everything - not just people, but animals, the sea and the environment.
Christina loved the outdoors, especially the warmth of Florida. She found joy hiking the trails in her hometown of Vernon, CT, paddle-boarding on the intracoastal waterway, shelling along the beach, snorkeling at JDM & Peanut Island, teaching boot-camp on the rooftop in Abacoa, taking nature walks throughout Palm Beach County, walking through the family vineyards in Croatia, dancing in their pool to her Coldplay playlist and just relaxing under the cabana with her husband at Juno/Jupiter Dog Beach watching all the dogs play in the sand & surf.
During her battle, Christina was loved and supported by her friends and family from around the world, including our family from Croatia, her former co-workers that became lifelong friends, and her fitness-gals whose friendship developed from teaching bootcamp for the past six years for which we are forever grateful.
Christina was a lover of all animals, but especially her kitty cats. She had rescued many adult cats from shelters as they were often overlooked and needed a good home. She was the ultimate “Momma Kitty”! Donations can be made in her memory to Caring Fields Felines cat sanctuary in Palm City, FL (www.cffelines.org).
The family will be honoring Christina at a Celebration of Life reception at a future date.
