Son of the late Joseph and Carmella (Aschettino) Guzzi, Chris was born in Long Branch, NJ on August 16, 1955. He spent his childhood in Toms River, NJ making treasured memories with his five siblings, his cousins and close friends.
Chris married his high school sweetheart, Jocelyn, in 1979 and they soon had two children. In 1983 the family moved to Danbury, CT where he had a successful career as a CRNA at Danbury Hospital for 28 years while raising their family in New Fairfield. Chris was the epitome of a devoted father and filled their childhood with memorable traditions, fun vacations, and countless family gatherings.
It was in 2012 that Chris and Jocelyn decided to live full time in Jupiter, FL. Chris would finish out his life’s work at Jupiter Outpatient Surgery Center. He enjoyed fishing, golf, cycling, and was able to spend more time doing his other life’s passion, playing music. He was a guitar aficionado and would often serenade the family playing piano and loved singing and recording music. His first grandchild inherited his musical talent and they would frequently record music together.
A devoted and proud grandpa, his pride and joy were his five beautiful grandchildren. Nothing gave him more joy than to make them pancakes or homemade ice cream, take them out on special Grandma and Pa dates, or pick them up every Sunday morning to take them to church. To say Chris loved his family time is an understatement.
Chris had a gift of making people feel welcome. Having come from a big family and marrying into an even bigger one, he loved any excuse to have a family gathering and celebrated life any chance he could. He is most celebrated as the guy who could make you laugh so hard and tell the best stories. He would go out of his way at a moment's notice to help someone in need. He will be deeply missed by so many.
Chris was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, his brother, Jeffrey and his Auntie Anne. He is survived by his wife Jocelyn, daughter Jenna and husband Robert Nicol, son Joseph Guzzi IV and wife Kirsten and his beloved grandchildren, Alexa, Christopher and Carina Nicol and Eva and Leah Joy Guzzi, all of Jupiter. Siblings, Mark of Richmond, VA, Scott and wife Helen of Boca Raton, FL, Vincent and wife Megan of Toms River, NJ, and Joanne and husband Ray Lutick of Brick, NJ. Sister-in-law, Jennifer and husband Frank Cappola of Stamford, CT and brother-in-law, Felipe Jose and wife Julie of Fort Pierce, FL. Cousins and close friends, Kevin Weaver, Kimberly Weaver and Diane Gallo, as well as many other cherished cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.
The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by both Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions in Chris’ name to the Fender Play Foundation.
