Corky was a loving wife, soulmate, and best friend to Bob for 65 years! But their love story is a truly unique one and a remarkable journey not forged by many. Corky pursued an early career as a Stewardess for American Airlines. She talked occasionally of her traveling days, but things quickly changed…
She met her prince on a blind date, and the rest became history...Hand in hand, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, for 65 years, Corky and Bob built a family legacy. With Bob retiring at age 30, Corky and Bob had a lifetime together not like many...They started their family and had a son and daughter…Corky and family enjoyed boating and water skiing with family friends on Long Island...But in 1970, Corky and Bob decided it was time for more sunshine and they moved to Florida… more time to play outside!
Corky was a full time mother and wife, and always put her needs after others...But Corky was also the backbone of what she and Bob built together...all of which was saved for future generations… They had a fabulous time together.....Golf and tennis almost everyday with friends throughout Florida and North Carolina….Corky always joked about avoiding the kitchen as much as possible! But who wouldn’t...they were constantly keeping dinner plans with the many dear friends they made along the way...
Corky was not extravagant or flamboyant. She was always genuine, always sincere...and truly kind-hearted… I guess all her friends knew that...
Corky and Bob loved summers in numerous homes in the mountains of North Carolina...making even more dear friends along the way…
Until...Grandkids arrived… In the early years, she thrived on having her little grandkids with her and Bob in the mountains...It was like summer camp for the boys...and ecstasy for Corky and Bob…
In later years, Corky and Bob returned full time to Jupiter/Tequesta, where we have been so grateful to have spent endless birthdays, holidays, and just simple days together watching football, cooking out, boating or strolling the beach finding priceless shells.
Corky will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Corky was preceded in death by her brother, Llewellyn Gordon, Sister-in-law Marianne Gordon, Brother and Sister in law, Richard and Laurie Bridges. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert “ Bob” C. Bridges, her son, Bob, and his wife, Frannie, her daughter, Nancy and her husband, Brad Krar,
and loving grandchildren, Bradley (wife Jenn), Nicholas, and Jackie. She is also survived by brothers and sisters in law Linda and Ken Hassenmeyer and Estelle Bridges, and nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly.
