Play Tribute Movie

Danielle Edelhofer DiCarlo passed away suddenly at her home in North Palm Beach on February 11th. She was 57 years old.

Danielle loved by so many, had a sweet infectious smile and even a sweeter heart. Born in Flushing, NY on May 28, 1962, she graduated from Bayside HS, attended Courtland University, and graduated from Albany University. After graduation, Danielle married her high school sweetheart John DiCarlo. Danielle worked on Wall Street as an Executive Assistant at Alliance Bernstein and Paine Webber in Manhattan.

After having three wonderful girls, Danielle and John decided to simplify their lives and focus on family, moving to Winston-Salem, NC, where her sister and her family resided. Danielle began a second career as a Special Needs Teacher, touching the lives of so many children. A move to Florida would follow, where Danielle continued her Special Needs work at PB county schools, spending the many years at Alamanda Elementary in NPB. What excited Danielle most in her teaching, was to see her students grow and master skills thought to be out of their reach. Danielle wrote and published a children's book for Special Needs Children, "Sleep, My Dear Boy, Sleep." She also started weekend and summer camps for her children. In spite of her busy life, Danielle found time for a side career in real estate as well as being a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Danielle loved going to Happy Hours with her girlfriends, travelling with family, walking with her dogs and stealing a few minutes by the water.

Danielle is survived by her husband, John, the love of her life, her daughters who she thought were the greatest gift from God, Nicole DiCarlo-Gonzolez and her husband Gustavo, Kimberly Gilmore and her husband, Titus, and Dana. She had four grandchildren, Mariah, Kaylee, Levi, and her namesake, Danielle. She is survived by her mom, Marie Claude Van Damme and her husband, James Binnie, her sister, Giselle Taylor and husband, George and her aunt, Monique Van Damme and husband Gregg Rosen and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her and will miss her very much.

She is preceded in death by her father, Kurt B. Edelhofer. The family asked for donations in lieu flowers be made to bornfreeshelter.org or pkdcure.org.

I have so many great memories of Danielle taking me, Nicole and Kimmy to Jones Beach, going Trick or Treating for Halloween, Going on the Haunted Hayride, the Castle Park, having the Clown Sundaes at Swenson’s Ice Cream Parlor and Friendly’s, and many sleep overs. I saw Danielle this past summer when my mom, Frankie and Riley met Danielle, Dana and Baby Danielle for lunch. I’m glad I had this time to spend with her and her family. I will miss her and the memories will never be forgotten💕💕

We met at Junior high school 194 and we were friends for those three years. You had a sweet giggly laugh and a beautiful smile. You were a soft hearted, fun presence in the day. I always remember you finally. I was happy to reconnect through Facebook and have at least that one conversation Of how we both became teachers of children with special needs. You look like you had a wonderful life filled with a lot of love. I hope you are resting easy now my sweet friend.
