Donald E. Posner, 88, of Jupiter, Florida, passed away on 23 January 2026, after a brief illness. Don is survived by his wife of 42 years Joan Posner, daughters Terri and Julie Posner, stepsons Kevin and David Carroll, stepdaughter Jennifer Windebank, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Born in the District of Columbia, he had been a long-time resident of Maryland before retiring to Palm Beach County, Florida. In the 1960s, Don, along with his father Ben and brother Paul, founded Posner Industries, a well-known and respected steel, fastener, and tool distribution business in the DC area. Don relished playing golf, especially after he and Joan met on a Maryland golf course. Later, at Joan’s urging, he learned to ski, liked it immediately and soon claimed he was the better skier. He also enjoyed time at the helm on their European river cruises. Don managed to find time to follow sports of all kinds and was a life-long Washington Redskins supporter. In addition, he was a jazz afficionado, a classic Western movie buff, and an avid reader. Proud to have served in the U.S. Army, he placed value in telling family and friends of his adventures and time in uniform. Most of all, Don will be remembered as a true gentleman with boundless generosity and kindness. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Steven Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation or to a charity of your choice is appreciated.
