Edward Portalatin, 82, of Juno Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2018 within the comfort of his family. He was born on April 19, 1936 in The Bronx, New York to Josephine and Frank Portalatin. He was raised in New York City as one of nine children, and spent the first four years of his adult life as a member of the United States Army, stationed in Alaska. His professional life included decades of leadership in the printing industry, with sales leading to his outstanding accomplishments. He was lovingly married for 56 years to Maria Portalatin. They raised their two children, Christina and Christopher Portalatin in Connecticut, and retired to South Florida ten years ago.
Eddie will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity, for his smile, his laughter, his crazy jokes and most of all his love for singing and dancing. Whenever and wherever the opportunity, he would be the liveliest person in a social gathering. In addition to spending time with friends and family, the New York Yankees and New York Giants were his fondest hobbies.
Beyond his professional and financial success, his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his four grandchildren, Drew, Alyssa, Stephanie and Chloe. He enjoyed dance recitals, birthdays, sporting events, graduations and fundraisers with them and their friends, and will be forever remembered as Grandpa to all.
Ed is survived by his wife, Maria, his daughter Christina and her husband Michael and their two daughters Alyssa and Stephanie Case, his son Christopher and his two children Drew and Chloe Portalatin. Of his eight siblings he is also survived by two brothers, John and Robert Portalatin and one sister Alice Squeri.
Ed lost his fight with dementia, but his spirit of kindness and generosity will live on forever. Please feel free to share your stories, thoughts and photos with Ed. These thoughts and memories be in our hearts always.
