Born in Brazil in August 1936, Francis left her homeland to build a new life in the United States, where she pursued a career in teaching. Her courage in starting over in a new country shaped the rest of her life, and she carried that same spirit of adventure with her always.
Francis met the love of her life, Wilbur Hurt, and the two shared a marriage built on devotion and companionship until his passing in 2004. Together, Wilbur and Francis lived between Cibolo, Texas, and Colorado, and traveled extensively with their many family members, exploring the world together and creating a lifetime of memories.
Francis was a longtime and cherished member of First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach, where her Christian devotion guided her life and touched everyone who knew her.
Francis is survived by her sister, Ilze (Henry); her brother, Everardo (Daisey); her stepchildren, Jeannene, Butch, and Bonnie; her nieces and nephews, Danielle (Joao), Othoniel (Cibelli), Everardo Filho (Barbara), Alex (Denise), and Sonya (Ryan), along with countless great nieces and nephews, friends, and loved ones whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilbur Hurt; her parents, Othoniel and Francisca and her niece, Andrea.
Francis will be remembered for her strength, her faith, her love of travel, and the life she built from one continent to another. Her memory will be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
