Born in Auburn, NY, Fred devoted his life to hard work, family, and the pursuits he loved. In his first career as a bricklayer, he took pride in mastering the trade and then running his own construction business. A testament to his skill and craft, handed down from his father and grandfather, his brick and stone masonry work is littered throughout Central New York.
Later he pursued his dream of a life on the water, working up from a mate to a boat captain in no time, traveling the East Coast from FL to NY and throughout the Bahamas. Ascribing to “two is one and one is none,” he was known as the “parts store for boat repair,” often helping others out of tight spots with the parts and ingenuity to get things working.
Fred was passionate about NASCAR and Sprint Car racing, hunting, fishing, flying, dogs, and gardening—interests that reflected his adventurous spirit and his all-in approach to life. Friends and family will remember him for his fun-loving nature and imparting his wisdom to those around him. His legacy and memory is carried on through everyone he helped and shared his experience and knowledge with.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September. 7, 2025, from 2 pm until 6 pm at Harry and the Natives in Hobe Sound and is open to all friends and family.
A private family ceremony will be held later to scatter his ashes at sea, fulfilling his final wishes to travel the ocean currents.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to charities helping children https://www.charitynavigator.org/search?q=Children , in his memory.
