Gerald Robert Decker

Jerry Decker 83, of Jupiter, Florida, formerly of Pompton Lakes and Pompton Plains, New Jersey, passed away leaving behind a life marked by success, generosity, and deep devotion to family and country.

Born and raised in Pompton Lakes, a standout athlete in football and baseball and class leader, Jerry built a distinguished career as a successful business owner and prominent insurance broker specializing in public entities and offshore Captive Insurance.

First in the Family to attend college, he lived the American dream through hard work, bold vision, and an unwavering patriotic spirit. As the oldest sibling and patriarch of the Decker family, he guided and inspired those around him for three generations with strength and steadfast example.

Jerry shared 61 wonderful years with his best friend and beloved wife Dee who he met his senior year at IU.

Together, they built a truly blessed life of love, travel, adventure and charitable work for the Navy SEAL Memorial, Make 22 Zero Again Fight against Veteran suicide, K9’s for Israeli Kubutz protection and emotional support and a fight against Opioid Poisoning of high school and college students with the Caden Ingram Foundation.

He is survived by Dee and their three children, Keven, Kelley, and Garth, along with the many relatives and friends who were touched by his presence.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Jerry was a competitive golfer and recently took great joy in Indiana Hoosiers celebrating their first national championship moving from the worst record in college history to an undefeated season.

He brought the same energy and focus to every endeavor, whether on the course, listener or sharing whatever he could with anyone in need.

Jerry possessed an extraordinary gift for connection. His charisma, warmth, and talent for thoughtful dialogue made him beloved by everyone he met. He was generous in spirit and bold in living, leaving an indelible mark on family, friends, colleagues, and community serving seven years on the Board of Directors of Admirals Cove POA.

He will be deeply missed by many. Those who knew him will remember a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and embodied the best of the American character.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes your donation to their beloved nephew’s fight against opioid poisoning One Pill Kills raising awareness and providing scholarships to colleges and trade schools.
