James, or “Pop” to so many of us, lived a life defined by strength, sacrifice, and love. As a proud Vietnam veteran and Bronze Star recipient, he served his country with courage and honor. That bravery never left him. It showed not only during his time in the military, but throughout every chapter of his life — especially during his long and difficult battle with cancer.
Pop fought with incredible strength and dignity. No matter how hard things became, he continued to push forward with the same toughness and resilience that defined the man he was. He taught all of us what true strength looks like.
But beyond his accomplishments and his service, Pop’s greatest pride was always his family.
He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Lorraine. For 56 years, they built a marriage rooted in love, loyalty, and commitment, creating a family that became his greatest joy. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Lisa and son, Jimmy. One of the special bonds Pop shared with Jimmy was their love of racing. It was something they enjoyed together and a connection that brought them countless memories over the years. While it brings us sadness that they are both gone, there is comfort in imagining them reunited once again, together in heaven.
Pop is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Lorraine; his daughter, Lisa, and son-in-law, John; his grandchildren, Gage, Kyle, Gabriella, and Matthew; his great-grandchildren, Luca and Beckham; and his brother, Richard, and sister-in-law, Susan. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy.
Pop was the kind of man whose presence made people feel safe. Strong, steady, protective, and loving in his own way. He carried so much on his shoulders throughout his life, yet he always continued to show up for the people he loved.
While our hearts are broken, there is comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and is finally at peace. What remains is the legacy of the incredible man he was.
We will remember his strength. We will remember his love. We will remember his sacrifice. And we will carry him with us always. Rest peacefully, Pop. Your fight is over, and your family will forever make you proud.
May the angels lead you into paradise, and may you rest forever in the peace and presence of the Lord. Until we meet again, we will hold you in our hearts and thank God for the gift of having you in our lives.
