She was originally from Taylor PA and lived in many places including Boca Raton, FL Jupiter, FL and finally Stuart, FL.
Janet received a BS in Education from Penn State University and taught English in several schools for many years.
She married Richard C Austin, Sr on May 31, 1953, although her husband always insisted they were married on May 30th. Her wedding band was engraved with "RCA to JRH 05/31/1953" so that mystery is now solved.
They had a wonderful marriage and both attributed it to the fact that they took alternating years to be correct. Janet had even years and Richard had odd years. Anything that needed to be settled was decided based on whose year it was to be correct.
Janet was a proud 50 year member of Phi Mu Fraternity, loved to play Bridge and go out to dinner with her family.
Her survivors include Sylvia Lohman-sister, Ruth Ann Chobot-daughter, Richard Austin Jr-son, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Vitas Healthcare in Martin County for their wonderful hospice care.
