Jean graduated from Norristown High School and then went on to get her Bachelors of Science at Pembroke College at Brown University. She married Robert R. Atherton on May 26, 1951 and was married for 33 years. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf!
Jean is survived by her children, David Atherton of Gainesville, FL, Debi (Jeff) Gerbert of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Susan (Steve) Swavely of Greensboro, NC; four grandchildren, Dr. Emma (Mark) Atherton-Staples, Dr. Nicole Swavely, Dr. Natalie Swavely, Kim Gerbert and a great grandchild, Sam Staples.
Jean is predeceased in 1984 by her husband, Robert R. Atherton.
