Jennie Ellen Arnold was born March 31, 1942 to Eleanor and Lawrence Arnold in Thomasville, Georgia. From the beginning of her life she was nicknamed “Jenellen.” Three years later her only sibling, JoAnn, was born. Her high school sweetheart Bill became her devoted husband of 45 years. He was her knight in shining armor, nicknaming her “Precious,” and she was his rock and best friend, who would have done absolutely anything for him. Together they had four children: Kathleen (deceased), William, Patricia and Cathleen.
After high school, Jenellen became a LPN and she continued to practice nursing until the birth of her first child. While working as a nurse, Jenellen and Bill married on June 27, 1964 in Cleveland, Ohio. After the birth of her children, motherhood became the focus of her life. Jenellen and Bill, their children, and their beloved pets re-located many times as Bill’s career flourished. They finally settled in the home they built together in Jupiter, Florida.
Jenellen enjoyed tennis, crafts, sewing her kids clothes and costumes, being a Girl Scout leader, a Den mother, being active in the PTA, her kids school nurse, shuffling her kids to their activities, walking, playing Pinochle and Mah-Jongg, and her life’s work of volunteering. Jenellen volunteered through her church’s Food Bank as well as other local organizations. Jenellen was also a dedicated friend. She was a devout Roman Catholic.
With great pride, Jenellen and Bill saw their children graduate college. They became proud grandparents to Shawna, Stephanie, Will, Mason, and Asher and she loved her wonderful son-in-law Sam and daughter-in-law Margaret.
Jenellen was admired as an example of what a loving and dedicated wife and mother should be. Her children and many others admired her strength and gentle nature.
Jenellen’s family's lives were changed forever with her devastating diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, seven years ago. The only blessing to come from this diagnosis was her primary caregiver, Jenny. Her compassion and utter devotion to “Momma J” brought Jenellen’s family peace in knowing when she was not with them; she was always in the very best of hands.
Jenellen will be missed more than words can say and will live on in our hearts forever.
