He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy Weber, son, Timothy Weber, grandson, Nicholas Weber and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
John attended Rockville High School in Rockville, CT. He then went on to earn his B.S. in Economics and Finance and also earned his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut. He also participated in the Dartmouth College Executive Management Program for young chief executives.
After University, he served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant as a tank platoon leader in an armored calvary regiment. He served overseas in Panama and South Vietnam and participated in armor combat operations in 1969 throughout South Vietnam.
After returning from the military, he began a 50 year long career as an investment analyst and manager of mutual funds and pension fund assets. He began his career at Connecticut Mutual Life, eventually serving as a Senior Vice President and President of State House Capital Management. Subsequently he served as Chairman of Aviva Plc's North American Investment Management group. In retirement, he was the managing partner of Copley Square Capital.
Over his career, he served on a number of Boards; Morley Fund Management of London, Pilot Insurance of Toronto and finished with a 18 year term as the Chairman of the investment committee at Everest Reinsurance Company in Bermuda.
John became an Adjunct Instructor in Finance and Investments at both the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut for a few semesters.
John and Nancy were avid travelers who enjoyed the 4 corners of the world. They were members at Frenchman's Reserve Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and Point Judith Country Club in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Salvation Army.
