Joseph was born in Newark, New Jersey on November 5, 1943 to his loving parents Joseph and Helen Nemeckay.
Joseph met his wife Patricia through her sister on a double date. They were inseparable for the next 64 years, of which, 59 of those years, they were married. They were married on November 13, 1966. They had three children: Dina, Joseph, and Dawn. Sadly, Joseph had passed away as an infant.
The loving couple moved their family to Brick, New Jersey in 1972. Along with her sister, Charlotte and Ezio Berruti and their two children Tricia and John. They moved into a house just around the corner from the Nemeckay family. The two families were essentially one. Together the 8 of us shared many beautiful lasting memories. From vacations, holidays, graduations, opening a restaurant and bakery, and family barbecues to name a few. We will always be a very close-knit family.
Joseph worked for AT&T for 35 years. When AT&T offered a retirement package he couldn’t refuse, Joseph saw the opportunity to have an early retirement at the age of 55. Prior to that Joseph had other jobs, including working for a pharmacy, in addition working for Bell Labs, and Western Electric. He was also a teacher and an amazing artist. He gave 100% of his time away from work to our family.
In 2001, Joseph, along with his wife Patricia, moved from New Jersey to Palm Beach Gardens to join their two daughters. They enjoyed the Floridian life for 25 years. We enjoyed many family theme park vacations, trips to other parts of Florida, and many holidays together. They were full of love, laughter, family jokes, joy and loving memories.
Joseph passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026 at 3:10 p.m. surrounded by his two daughters. He is survived by his two daughters, Dina and Dawn. His niece, Tricia and her husband Joe Maggio and their two daughters, Alex and Dani. His sister, Linda Rox. His brother, Gary Nemeckay and his wife Audrey. Cousin, Kathy Banda. His late nephew, John Berruti and his children, Brielle and Giovanni.
