May 5, 1941 – May 13, 2019
Josephine (Ceccarelli) Kern-Klubek
Josie entered eternal rest on May 13, 2019.
Josie came to this country on the Andrea Doria, which was hit and sunk by a Norwegian freighter just outside of New York City. From this humble beginning in the USA, this future entrepreneur started as a cashier at the Swiss Chalet restaurant in Buffalo NY where she quickly overcame the language barrier with terms such as dime, nickel and quarter and always bragged that the register was never over or under at the end of each night. She went on to own three restaurants in the Buffalo area, The Casa Di Amici in Clarence NY, The Crystal Inn in Arcade, and the well-known Josie’s Nicholsbrook and Brookside Motel in Chaffee NY. She also owned three restaurants in Florida, Josie’s Pizza and Italian Restaurant in Jupiter, Josie’s Pizza and Wings in Orlando and Josie’s Ristorante in Boynton Beach, which still bears her name. In between operating the restaurants this dedicated, tireless woman worked as a timeshare manager, as a manager at the Marco Polo Hotel in Miami, and was a dietician at the Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach. Her final business venture was owning two Massage Envy Franchises in Royal Palm and Wellington, Florida.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bob; four sons, Kevin (Christina), David (Donna), Jerome (April) and Michael (Jennifer); a step daughter, Roberta; two brothers, Angelo (Gemma) Ceccarelli and Tony (Debra) Ceccarelli; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; as well as many friends too numerous to mention. Closest of her friends were Ada Artenis and Patty Higgins, who cared for her in her final days and hours.
She is predeceased by a sister, Giovanninna and her first husband, Jerome Kern Sr.

I love Josie. I have been blessed with a friendship that was so fun, exciting, and loving.
Josie is one of the strongest women I have met in my life. To be her friend has been an honor.
Josie had faith in God. Josie loved life. Josie would be here still if she could. My adventurous friend will be forever remembered.
Josie shared all of herself. Josie had so much love for everyone and everything. I offer my deepest heartfelt compassion to Josie's family and friends. I know my special friend is now at peace and in the arms of Jesus. Josie's faith, love, and strength shall forever be a positve influence in my life. I love you Josie.
Love your friend Jill.

When I heard Josey had passed, my first thought was, "Oh boy - look out Heaven! Ilah and Josey together again..." Mom only had a few close friends and Josey was one of them and I was so glad Josey was in her life - and it was fun when we were included! I remember Josey went out and picked mushrooms and boiled and boiled them. My father, who was in a Mushroom Society (yes they do exist, lol) was concerned because evidently, if not boiled, these mushrooms were poisonous. But we all lived to tell the tale, so Josey knew something the Mushroom Society did not! Then there was the story about frogs in a car, but I never did get the rest of the story on that one, but sounds intriguing. One thinng I do know about Josey is that she lived life to the fullest and was full of life and adventure, a hard worker and never afraid to take on a challenge. What a woman!!! I share in your loss.

It's been 20 years since I left Buffalo and many more since I last saw Josie. But I remember as a kid my dad Joe taking me to their house. Riding a horse or just hanging out at the Nichols Brook. She was always a fantastic woman and she will be greatly missed.

My sister Deb and I are saddened to hear of Josie's passing. She was a wonderful longtime family friend - happy memories of picnics and much laughter. My mom, Ilah, always got a kick out of Josie and greatly enjoyed her friendship, joy of life and sense of fun. She loved her family very much and we are thinking of and sending condolences to Tony, Kevin, David, Jerome and Michael. Love from Karen and Deb Lorshbough
