Lawrence William Walsh

Born in Manhattan, Larry grew up in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, where he developed an early love of sports, adventure, and being part of his community. He was an active kid who played basketball and worked as a paperboy, traits that would stay with him throughout his life: hardworking, energetic, competitive, and always ready for the next adventure.

Larry attended East Stroudsburg College, where he continued his passion for basketball as a member of the college team. After college, he began his career in the jewelry business, a path that would take him through an accomplished career, including time at the renowned Harry Winston. Eventually, Larry took the entrepreneurial leap and purchased his own jewelry company in Indiana, building a successful business of his own.

But while Larry took great pride in his career, some of his happiest memories were made outside of work. It was while lifeguarding in Avon that he met the love of his life, his wife, with whom he shared a beautiful 64-year marriage. Together, they built a life filled with family, laughter, travel, and countless memories.

Avon held a particularly special place in Larry’s heart. He spent many wonderful years there and considered it his happy place. Whether he was enjoying time at The Columns, Avon Inn, The Strat/Norwood, or Kelly’s, Larry was happiest when surrounded by good friends, good conversation, and plenty of laughs. He loved to travel and experience new places, but no matter where life took him, he always found his way back to the people and places he loved most.

Above all else, Larry’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his presence, stories, humor, and love will live on through each of them. He was the kind of person who made memories simply by being there, and his family will forever treasure the countless moments they shared together.

Larry was predeceased by his parents Larry and Ann, his sister Ann, and many beloved family members and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary, his children Kelly Bertolino (PJ) and Ray Walsh (Margie), grandchildren Ronnie (Scott), Matt, Kaela, and Brooke (Teddy), great-grandchildren Olivia, Addyson, Cormack, and the many family members and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

Larry leaves behind a life well lived, a family deeply loved, and a lifetime of stories and memories that will continue to be shared for generations to come. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, September 24th at 11am at St. Patrick’s Church in Palm Beach Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital on his behalf.
