Lee grew up in Brooklyn, NY. She received a B.A. from St. Joseph’s College for Women and an M.A. degree in history from New York University. Lee taught in New York City Schools for 30 years. During her teaching years, she lived on Long Island, NY and did volunteer work at St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn, L.I. upon retirement. After retiring, Lee and her husband moved to Jupiter, FL, where she volunteered for over 25 years (over 11,200 hours) at Jupiter Medical Center. She served as President-Elect and President of Jupiter Medical Center’s Auxilliary, after which she became Charge Volunteer and served several terms as 1st and 2nd Vice President. Her pride and joy as President was introducing the need for and raising the funds for a Maternity Unit for the growing young population. She was active in the Woman’s Club of Jupiter-Tequsta, serving as Secretary, Scholarship Chairman and Publicity Chairman. For the past 9 years she lived at Mangrove Bay and had served on its Resident’s Council.
Lee was predeceased by her brother Philip and beloved husband Joseph. She is survived by her daughter, Lee Grannon, and son-in-law, Michael Grannon, of Old Lyme, CT, her granddaughter, Emily Fox and her husband, Tim Fox, of Reading, MA and her grandson, Christopher Grannon, of Los Angeles, CA.
A memorial service will be held at Mangrove Bay, Jupiter, FL on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M.
