

Age 91, of Jupiter, Florida departed this life peacefully surrounded by family members on June 8, 2011.
Preceded in death, her loving husband, Carl J. Manning. She is survived by her four children Marie Manning of Jupiter, Florida and NYC, NY, Carolyn Manning-DeJesu of Huntington, New York, Alan Manning of Jupiter, Florida and Linda Manning-Koziatek and her husband, Edward, of Syosset, NY; eleven grandchildren: David, Donna, Nicky, Lori, Joey, Heather, Allison, Edward, Michael, Kristin, and Thomas; five great grandchildren David, Sandra, Layla, Kalista, and Lyric.
She was born in Moultrie, Georgia on March 18, 1920. She was married for 58 years to Carl J. Manning on September 29, 1941 until his untimely passing on July 5, 2000.
She settled in Woodbury, NY. Lois became a devoted volunteer with the town of Oyster Bay Youth Development Programs in Syosset, New York in the early 1960's. Her commitment and dedication spearheaded many exciting after school programs and activities for thousands of young people and teens. In 1965, she was rewarded as a full time position and later became a "Supervisor" for the Performing Arts. Then became “Superintendent” for CAPA Program - (Cultural and Performing Arts Division). For twenty years of dedicated service, she was instrumental in organizing a variety of programs for all ages including acting workshops for teenage produced plays, concerts, art classes, and numerous organized program activities aimed for the young to the seniors. In 1985, Lois was named "Woman of the Year." She retired with Carl to Jupiter, Florida in 1986.
Lois was a member of the Nassau County Forum for the Arts, Nassau County Decentralization Program, New York Institute of Technology Cultural Arts Committee, the Alliance of New York State Arts Councils, Inc, LI Tourism and Convention Committee for the Arts, National Assembly of Local Arts Agencies, Association of College, University, and Community Arts Administrators, as well as Long Island Parks and Recreation Association.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12th from 2-3:30 with funeral service to follow at 3:30PM, Aycock Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, Maryland 20871.
