She was the wife and best friend of her childhood sweetheart Lou for over half a century. Together they were bigger than life. They traveled the world and built a beautiful legacy with their passion and unwaivered devotion to each other, their family and their faith. They were a couple to be remembered like Bogie and Bacall.
She did her best at everything and would say, "If you sweep a floor, sweep it with all your might," and that she did! Her home sparkled and was decorated well above its time with leopard and red carpets- African and Asian art from their travels.
She was a mother to 4 children- Loretta, Debra, Michael and Nikki and she loved their spouses Michael, Peter, Doreen and Joey like her own.
She was a devoted mother to her children and gave every ounce of her love that she had to them and her 10 beautiful grandchildren who she adored- Matthew, Zack, Tyler, JB, Jamie, Christopher, Nic, Dominic, Anthony and Dean and was also blessed with 3 great grandchildren – Ryan, Clark and Olivia.
She was a beautiful woman who had a special light and was kind and caring. She had an inner strength even until the moment she passed. She never complained or wanted attention or help. She was happy to give of herself never asking for anything in return. Everyone who met her or went to her home said that they felt a warmth and motherly love and a welcoming that they longed for in their own lives.
She was the quintessential Italian mother whose loved was expressed with advice around a table set with food that was made with love and her house was a home to more than just her family. The memories of it’s warmth and the smells of her cooking will resinate with us as we pass down recipes of a life well lived.
Her early childhood years were filled with uncertainty and fear and she was given peace in the time she spent with the nuns in her local community. Her faith gave her strength, and her devotion to the blessed mother was her comfort. That part of her life was a side of her that we never really understood, the part of her that she kept only to herself and in the end, she called for her mother to take her in her arms so that she could be a child again.
We will always remember her love and strength. Although she is no longer with us on this earth, she will always be our mother.
She's together now with the love of her life who has been waiting for her to dance in heaven for eternity. We love you mom and as dad would say, "You are always in our hearts."
