
Marvin Greenberg of Palm Beach Gardens passed away from natural causes at the age of 93 on February 5, 2018. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, a descendent of parents from Ukraine and Romania. Marvin was a graduate of Central High School and continued on to receive an undergraduate degree and a medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Marvin had a career as a psychiatrist in the Philadelphia area, with a private practice in family therapy and as Director of the Adolescent Unit at the Institute of the Pennsylvania Hospital. He retired in 1987 to Nantucket, MA and Singer Island, FL, where he pursued his ardent hobbies of bird watching, investing, and tennis. During his retirement he served as a volunteer nature and birding guide for the Maria Mitchell Association of Nantucket and the John D. MacArthur Beach State Park in North Palm Beach. He also interviewed over fifty Holocaust survivors as part of the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation, contributing to a preserved catalog of over 55,000 worldwide interviews.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; a brother, Stanley; three daughters, Laurel, Lisa “Fifi”, and Holly; and two grandsons, Gulliver and Eisen.
A memorial service will be held February 24, 3:30 pm at La Posada on Gardens Parkway in Palm Beach Gardens in La Sala Grande.
