Mary E. Poynter (nee King) of Jupiter, Florida died Friday February 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was 65. Born at Taylor Hospital in Ridley, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Richard Charles and Doris Ann King. She graduated from Marple Newtown High School in 1971, graduated from Presbyterian University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1974 and she married her late husband later that year. She raised her family in Swarthmore, PA. Mary lived her life caring for others as a hospital nurse as well as an in-home care nurse, healthcare case manager and hospital executive, but most important to Mary was the devoted care she gave to her family.
Mary was an exceptional artist and painted for a hobby. In recent years this gave her great pleasure as she battled with cancer. She loved her gardens wherever she lived and took great joy in planting and nurturing her flowers and enjoying nature. She treasured her vacations near the ocean, lakes or rivers where sunsets were always special.
She is survived by her daughter Katy Poynter Maziarz of Jupiter, FL; grand daughter Sofia Maziarz; sisters Sue (George) Williames of Newtown Square, PA. and Dottie (Michael) Mallon of Malvern, PA. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Charles Poynter; brother Richard Charles King and sister Kathy Radabaugh. She is also survived by nine loving nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
A Memorial was held in her honor on Monday, February 25, 2019, visitation was from 5pm-6pm with services followed at 6pm, Aycock-Riverside Funeral & Cremation Center at 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33454.
Another Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, visitation will be from 10:30am-11:15am with service following, Covenant Presbyterian Church, 400 Lancaster Ave, Frazer, PA 19355.
