

Matthew James McCarney, age 82, of Juno Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on May 2, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Matthew was the son of John and Mary (Murphy) McCarney.
Matthew grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and was known throughout his life for his kindness, strong work ethic, love of golf, and devotion to his family. He attended North Catholic High School in Philadelphia and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served honorably from 1968 to 1972. Following his military service, he worked in supply chain management for Verizon and later for the Pennsylvania Wine & Spirits stores.
Matthew was a devoted son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his nephews, James McCarney and Michael McCarney and by his great-nieces and great-nephews, Anna, Jack, Ryan, Lucie, and Finn McCarney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary McCarney; his beloved wife, Joanne Lavin McCarney and his brothers, John McCarney and Henry McCarney.
Those who knew Matthew will remember his warm smile, gentle nature, unwavering kindness, and love of golf. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
