Awaiting by G W (Bill) Marshall

Oh,little man your stay was short You never knew this world of distress, But you brought loving comfort, To where God chose to bless.

In our quiet times together alone, I shall always cherish until that day When death shall find me and atone, And we both are home to stay.

I shall await and always look forward, For looking back brings only tears And you are now safe with the Lord, Awaiting when I finish my years.

Obituary

Paxton James McKenzie (5/20/20 - 12/31/20)

Early in the morning of the final day of the year, Paxton James slipped away into God’s loving hands.

He was our Little Angel and a gift from heaven since May 20, 2020, and on the year's final day he breathed his final breath.

He taught all of us so much about love, family and friendship. Many within our Community supported us through our journey, and you are all in our thoughts and prayers as we know how Paxton touched each of you.

Paxton was nearly 7-and-one-half-months old, as he succumbed to a genetic illness that manifested itself in a mitochondrial disease. The inability of his cells to duplicate was a terminal diagnosis that we learned about at 7 weeks of age.

He is survived by his mother Elizabeth McKenzie, his maternal grandfather Mark McKenzie, his great aunt Melissa and great uncle Paul Cobuzzi, and uncles Ian and Ethan McKenzie, Dara Watkis (his phenominal caregiver) as well as many other relatives in New York, Virginia, Texas and Nebraska. In fact, Paxton was named after an Omaha hotel and steakhouse to remind us all of his mothers and father's roots. His doting, great aunt Melissa gave him the moniker of Peanut as her endearing name for her darling little grandnephew. His story is one that will never be forgotten - we will keep him in our hearts as long as we hold a breath and look forward to the day we can be united as one family with God.

God bless you Paxton and may His eternal light shine upon you - Rest in Peace, Peanut.

We love you and are grateful for your time with us, Mom & Dad
