Peter Richard DeGeorge

Peter Richard DeGeorge was born in New York City on December 12, 1946. Early on he lived in Mineola, Long Island before moving to Cheshire, Connecticut at the age of 7. He went on to graduate from Cheshire Academy, a private school in his hometown in 1965 where he excelled as Connecticut State finalist diving champion and Quinnipiac College in 1970, majoring in Business Administration.

His business career began in earnest when he joined Xerox as a salesman. He quickly distinguished himself and became a top key-account sales executive. He quickly advanced to Xerox sales training manager, heading the in-house sales force management, and training program at Xerox.

In 1978, he left Xerox to start his first of many entrepreneurial ventures, founding CopyLease with partner Herb Gessler, a successful venture he sold in 1984. He went on to join his father and brother Larry in a buyout of Times Fiber Communications from Insilco Corporation in 1984; and Amphenol Corporation from Allied Signal in 1986. Peter subsequently led the buyout and spinoff Miles Homes in 1988, which he grew to become nationally recognized DeGeorge Homes. He returned to his alma mater to support Quinnipiac College as a philanthropist and to serve as a director of the board.

An avid sports enthusiast, Peter over the years competed in triathlons and biathlons', as well as sponsored professional triathletes and triathlon events. He was also involved in community football and lacrosse in minority communities and was an advocate for sports programs in schools and colleges.

In his later years Peter resided in Jupiter, Florida and Beverly Hills, California.

Peter is survived by his brother, Larry DeGeorge; three children, Peter and Michael DeGeorge and Brandi Martelli; his 5 grandchildren, Brooke, Payton, Luna and Tristan DeGeorge and Savanna Martelli; and stepsons and stepdaughter, Storm, Steele and Haley Stocksdill.

Services will be held on Saturday February 11th, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. At 1:00pm Father Lacy will be starting his service.
