They don’t make golf pros like Ralph anymore. Having been with Ralph for many years at Tall Tree and moving, when he did to Harbor Hills CC….he amazed me. He was there at sunup to sundown 6 days a week. Monday was his day off. He listened to golfers stories of woe and was always there to encourage them to keep working at it. His patience with people was incredible. They don’t make golf pros like Ralph anymore.

I caddy for Ralph in high school 1953 to 1954 on the Farmingdale High School golf team. I also shagged golf balls with him as he like to practice golf.  A year later I also made the golf team. Ralph was always kind and good to me, he also gave me one of his good putters. I always have fond memories of him, Sal Ruggiero and me growing up and playing at the Bethpage golf courses. Those were good times!!!


Gone but not forgotten!   I still hear your voice in my head when I mess up a shot.  Rest In Peace my friend.

I met Ralph and Fernie through Ferns sister Lyndy in 1966. I was an usher at their wedding. He was always a man who defined the term gentleman. 

Ralph was the consummate club golf pro ....always there, never missed a day,ready to listen to everyone’s tale of woe on the course....and then pinch your elbow as you left. Monday was his day off when the course closed and often  Dave Austin (RIP) and I were privileged to go with him and Terry Murphy and play some of the finest golf courses on LI and Westchester. Ralph had one of the most beautiful golf swings I’ve ever seen but more importantly, he revered the game and loved and respected his friends. Needless to say, it was quite the foursome....competitive, full of fun moments, some remarkable and sometimes not so remarkable shotmaking...followed by great dinners and conversation. As I age , I treasure those moments more and more. I was fortunate to have had Ralph as my golf pro for about 40 years (Tall Tree and Harbor Hills) but more importantly as a friend. I still think about him. He was special!

To Guy and Cissy, and all of Ralph’s family:

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dad.  He was my friend, teacher, mentor, and role model, and was a real hero to me.  Due to his influence and mentoring I became a PGA member, one of the proudest achievements of my life.  Once when we were playing together in Florida, Ralph made a hole-in-one on a long par 3 with a 3-iron, and a few years later we played the Creek Club together when I finished birdie-eagle to shoot 71 and beat him 1 up.  These are treasured memories along with many others.  I will be playing golf on April 18 with my sons, and thinking of Ralph all the way around.  I am so sorry for your loss, and very grateful that I got to know him the way I did.

Happy Birthday to my dear friend in heaven!!

My sincere condolences to Fern and Guy. I absolutely adored your dad and he meant the world to me. I have thought of him often with many laughs and smiles and now with tears. He, next to my mom and dad was the most influential person in my life. I could only hope I enriched his life 1/10th of what he gave me. He’s now in heaven pinching Fernies elbow.

The tribute to Mr. C is Beautiful.  He was a kind, loving and generous man.  He was a great mentor to his family and the neighborhood kids.  I cherish the memories growing up next door to the Camerlengo's.  My love, prayers and sympathy to Cissy and Guy, both of whom I've held in the highest regards since our childhood.  I can see Mr. and Mrs. up with God, toasting you both for what wonderful adults you have become.  I miss you guys.
